Our expert on Latino culture is Dr. Chip Anderson. Dr. Chip worked and lived in Latin America for 25 years and has experience in community development and business ownership. He learned Spanish and immersed himself in Latino culture in order to work with various people in Latin America. |
While working in Costa Rica, Dr. Chip saw a need for a quality employer with a desire to help those who were unemployed because of a poor educational background. With partner business associates, he helped open an electronics assembly factory in San Jose. Today, this factory employs 250 people and exceeds annual sales of $3 million. More importantly, the factory provides a living wage for many people who would otherwise be unemployable. Visit the company website at: www.ticoelectronics.com.
In 2000, Dr. Chip returned to the United States to put his business skills and heart for people to work as the president of Christ For the City International; an international, faith-based, non-governmental organization that facilitates the development of programs that meet the needs of cities. Dr. Chip accepted the challenge, and the organization now has 180 workers serving in 14 countries. Over 70% of the organization’s workforce is Latino, including each country director.
Dr. Chip and his family currently live in Omaha, Nebraska. He is a noted speaker and internationally considered an expert in urban work and Latin American culture. Through his “Understanding Latino Culture” program, Dr. Chip creates an atmosphere of mutual respect where two cultures can successfully work together and increase corporate profitability.
